An OCD Story

An OCD Story

An anonymous story talking about the struggle of dealing with OCD and social anxiety growing up and currently still dealing with the aftermath of compulsive behaviours, talking about how therapy has helped.

‘I think the worst thing about anxiety is that your feelings about yourself is completely dependent on the last interaction you had with anybody. For most of my life I have struggled with social anxiety along with OCD and general anxiety and having various seasons of depression. When I was a kid, OCD was my coping mechanism and was what made me feel safe, you know that saying “step on a crack and it’ll break your mum’s back” any cracks and drain hole covers were a no-go!’
